NSWKA Kendo Grading May 2025

Event Date: 3rd May 2025

Venue: RCSC (The Y NSW Ryde Community Sports Centre) ELS Hall Park, Kent Rd, North Ryde NSW 2113

Dear members of the NSW Kendo Association,

NSW state kendo grading (2025 first session) is now open for application.

Kyu grading from 6th Kyu to 1st Kyu

Dan grading from 1st Dan to 4th Dan

For grading applicants:

All applicants MUST have an AKR ID prior to applying to grade.

Please request your Club Sensei and Club Administrator to cancel the grading lock in JustGo to indicate that the applicant has been approved to attempt grading.

If your current grade was issued by a kendo organisation other than the NSWKA or AKR, please submit a copy of your current grade certificate to registration@nswkendo.org

Ensure you have registered for grading and made payment in JustGo.

For club representatives,

Remove Grading Locks on JustGo to enable grading applicants to purchase their tickets.

Volunteer Requirements Per Club
To ensure a successful grading for all clubs, we would like to request all participating clubs to nominate 1-2 volunteers (For larger clubs sending more than 10 people, please consider sending 2 or more volunteers). Volunteers will be asked to help with registrations, grading tally, and as motodachi if they are 1 Dan and above. Note lunch will be provided for volunteers.
[Please submit your volunteer names as part of the JustGo registration per club]
Expressions of Interest for Dojo Stewards
We wish to seek expressions of interest for Kyu grade dojo steward (3 Dan and above) and Dan grade dojo steward (4 Dan and above). This is an excellent opportunity to build your understanding of running a state grading and take up more senior positions in future. Note lunch will be provided for dojo stewards.
[Please Register for Dojo Steward via the relevant JustGo Ticket]
Request to all 4 Dan and 5 Dans: Expression of Interest for Kyu Grade Panel
In addition, we would also like to seek expressions of interest to all 4 and 5 Dan members interested in helping the grading event as part of the Kyu Grading Panel. Your participation on the Panel will continue building a strong kendo community in NSW and grow our membership. Note lunch will be provided for panellists.

Please note that separate email invites will be sent to 7 Dan Sensei, 6 Dan Sensei and Club Head Senseis to check their availability for the Dan Grading Panel.
[Please Register for Kyu Grade Panel via the relevant JustGo Ticket]

All grading applications must be submitted no later than Friday 11th April Late registration will not be accepted.

Once the grading eligibility check is completed, club representatives will be contacted to confirm the list of eligible grading candidates.

If there are any concerns or queries, please feel free to contact secretary@nswkendo.org.
