Dear Friends of Kendo,
Welcome to Canberra, and welcome to the 47th Australian Kendo Championships and the 2025
Australian Kendo Seminar. “Canberra” is Ngunnawal for “meeting place” and was chosen as
the name of our Nation’s capital where like-minded people should gather and share a common
purpose.
In particular, we would like to welcome the All Japan Kendo Renmei (AJKF), members of the
Australian Kendo Renmei from across the country, and friends from beyond Australian shores.
I am truly grateful for your support. As the world is becoming a smaller place, Kendo is fast
becoming a great international sport that has seen its popularity in Australia grow significantly
over the past few decades. I trust this event will bring all participants closer together as com-
panions and build on the fellowship we all share.
I would like to express our appreciation to the members of the ANU Kendo Club, who have
worked hard to make this event a memorable and positive experience for you all.
